The Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) is a three-year program with a paid co-op term, focusing on preparing graduates for software development roles. The curriculum emphasizes testing, project management, and cybersecurity. Through experiential learning and a multidisciplinary approach, students gain applied knowledge in computer science theory and practical skills. The program integrates technology for investigation, organization, collaboration, and information communication. With a strong emphasis on project-based learning, the BCS aims to produce career-ready graduates proficient in diverse software development techniques and professional practices.
Candidates must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or be 19 years of age or older. A minimum cumulative average of 65% in six 4U/M courses is required, including the following mandatory courses: ENG4U, any 4U math, and any four additional 4U/M courses. Higher averages may be necessary for admission due to program competitiveness, even though the minimum cumulative average for consideration is 65%.
Applicants with non-English instructional backgrounds must submit English proficiency test scores, including TOEFL iBT 88, IELTS 6.5, CAEL 70, PTE Academic 58, CELT Band 6, Cambridge Exams 180, or equivalent. A language program is available for those below the admission standard. Completion of ELS level 4 with an 80% average and no grade below 75% qualifies for admission to the degree program. Placement in the ELS program is based on in-house test scores or TOEFL/IELTS results.
