The “Big Data Solution Architecture” program trains students to handle large datasets for business decision-making. Skills in data collection, processing, and visualization are emphasized, alongside database design and solution development. Applied learning methods prepare students for real-world challenges, with an optional co-op term for practical experience.
All students entering this program must: have a laptop computer that meets minimum specified requirements own and maintain their laptop bring their laptop on the first day of classes.
Admission requires an Ontario College diploma, advanced diploma, degree, or equivalent with a minimum B average in fields like computer science, software engineering, or related areas. Alternatively, a graduate certificate in computer applications or mobile solutions development with a B average is accepted. Relevant disciplines, including health informatics with substantial software development content, may also be considered.
Domestic applicants presenting transcripts from non-Canadian educational institutions must undergo an evaluation for equivalency through an approved provider of credential evaluation services. A Comprehensive or Course-by-Course Report is required for applicants to this program.
Applicants with non-English instructional backgrounds must submit English proficiency test scores, including TOEFL iBT 88, IELTS 6.5, CAEL 70, PTE Academic 58, CELT Band 6, Cambridge Exams 180, or equivalent. A language program is available for those below the admission standard. Completion of ELS level 4 with an 80% average and no grade below 75% qualifies for admission to the degree program. Placement in the ELS program is based on in-house test scores or TOEFL/IELTS results.
