The M.S. in Data Science integrates statistical methods, data analysis, and machine learning to extract meaningful insights for future forecasting. This enhances business or system efficiency by optimizing processes. Students gain expertise in computational modeling, data collection, integration, storage, retrieval, processing, analytics, and visualization.
To be admitted to the M.S. in Data Science program, applicants need a bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a GPA of 2.75 or higher. Different majors require completion of three bridge courses (Data Structure and Algorithms, Data Engineering, Applied Probability and Statistics) with a grade of B or above in the first two semesters. International students must meet MU English proficiency standards and other admission criteria before starting their first semester.
All Marshall University applicants, regardless of citizenship, must meet English proficiency requirements. Minimum scores for graduate exams include TOEFL iBT (80), IELTS (6.5), Duolingo (105), MELAB (82%), and PTEA (53). Exemptions apply for those with transfer credit equivalent to ENG 101 with a grade of C or better or successful completion of an approved ESL program, like the Marshall University English Language Institute.
