The Cybersecurity Engineering program awards a Bachelor of Science degree, preparing students for cybersecurity roles with a focus on risk management and system engineering. Emphasizing the analysis of components and systems, especially in engineered systems, the curriculum equips students with skills to address security issues throughout the system lifecycle. Prospective applicants should note the program’s math-intensive nature, finding detailed information on education objectives and enrollment on the college website.
International first-year applicants to Kent State must show English proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, PTE, SAT, or ACT. Conditional admission is possible based on academic standards, and waivers may apply depending on educational background and country-specific criteria.
For admission into Cybersecurity Engineering, new students need a minimum 3.0 high school GPA, and either a minimum 24 ACT composite score (with sub-scores of 24 in both English and math) or a minimum 1160 SAT composite score (math, critical reasoning, and writing) for fall 2024 admission (though scores are no longer required). Successful placement into MATH 12002 (or equivalent) through completion of a calculus, pre-calculus, or trigonometry course with a minimum C grade is crucial. Admission is contingent on this placement; otherwise, students will be redirected to the Computer Engineering Technology major before freshman year if minimum requirements are met.
